Women In Turning

The Guild has a Women in Turning section whose purpose is to support each other as we gain confidence and skill in our turning and to be a social and creative outlet.

If you do not have a lathe or turning tools but are curious about what is involved, we have several members who would be happy to provide you with information. If you are a newcomer to turning, we also have several experienced mentors who can help get you started.

There are also resources available through the American Association of Woodturners (AAW) that might be helpful to you. These can be found at www.woodturner.org.  While you can access many of them without being an AAW member, WIT is currently offering financial assistance for AAW memberships. Talk to me about joining!

For AAW WIT information, go to www.woodturner.org, click on Services at the top,  then scroll down and click on Women in Turning (WIT). (For direct access, you can use this link: https://www.woodturner.org/page/WIT.) At this site, you can sign up for WIT newsletters which contain news, articles by women, photos of turnings by women, and information about upcoming events, such as the WIT EXCHANGE.

witAlso, at the AAW store (https://www.woodturner.org/store/default.aspx?), you can purchase shirts, turning smocks, and patches with the WIT logo.

Let’s connect at a Guild meeting and make sure that you know about the information and services that are available to you.  It’s a very welcoming and supportive group of woodturning enthusiasts—we hope you will enjoy turning as much as we do.  Please use this form to contact me:

NOTE:  IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN A REGULAR GROUP MEETING, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

Best wishes,
